This is my /now page, where I share what I'm up to. I'll try my best to keep it updated regularly, but no promises!
- Currently living in NYC
- Working on all things search & databases at turbopuffer
- Reading mostly science fiction, and a fair bit of NYC transit history
Past Lives
- Spent a month living in Vienna (Feb 2026)
- Lived in Vancouver, BC from 2023-2026. Two different appartments, both downtown
- Started Operand in 2021 (shut down in 2023). Raised a bit of money
and spent two years building infrastructure for proactive software. Some of the stuff we built:
- iMessage bots that message you first
- Semantic recommendation engine w/ vector embeddings
- A vector database from scratch in Zig
- Internal knowledge sharing platform for teams
- During COVID, spent a month living in both Prague and Frankfurt. Spent almost two months living in Seoul, Korea
- Studied computer engineering at the University of Waterloo (2018 - 2023). During co-op, worked on Operand, as well as:
- Kuna, getting on-device object detection working for video doorbells, and building real-time video streaming infrastructure
- AMD, working on FidelityFX Downsampling and background-noise suppression
- In high-school, interned at the Queen's University Big-Data Analytics and Management Lab, and published research on search query expansion at COMPSAC 2019
- First got into programming through Minecraft, writing server-side Java Bukkit plugins. Played a lot of hardcore factions
- Born in Kingston, ON, Canada (Oct 2000)
